“Take A Stand With The Minuteman:
Be Drug Free”

MISSION:

To organize National Guard resources and members in support of drug demand reduction programs for youth with focus on family, school, and the community.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

  • Support community based organizations engaged in drug demand reduction activities by providing information concerning the availability of National Guard resources to include armories, equipment, and personnel.

  • Provide information and education on substance abuse through static displays, drug-free events, parenting programs, and speaking engagements.

  • Act as a program enhancer to existing programs such as D.A.R.E., JROTC, programs conducted by the Department of Mental Health's Prevention Providers, the Alabama School of Alcohol and Other Drug Studies and other community based drug education prevention programs.

FACTS:

  • The DDR program works with individual elementary, middle/junior high, and high schools with individual drug education programs as requested by the schools through the State Department of Education.

  • DDR personnel provide logistical support for numerous community based substance abuse organizations' programs.

  • DDR personnel developed a High School Drug Awareness Program (HIDAP) to be provided to Alabama high school students.  HIDAP personnel train recruiters to conduct this drug education class.
