MISSION:
To organize
National Guard resources and members in support of drug
demand reduction programs for youth with focus on family, school, and the community.

GOALS AND
OBJECTIVES:
-
Support community
based organizations engaged in drug demand reduction activities by
providing information concerning the availability of National Guard
resources to include armories, equipment, and personnel.
-
Provide information
and education on substance abuse through static displays, drug-free events,
parenting programs, and speaking engagements.
-
Act as a program
enhancer to existing programs such as D.A.R.E., JROTC, programs conducted by the
Department of Mental Health's Prevention Providers, the Alabama School of
Alcohol and Other Drug Studies and other community based drug education
prevention programs.
FACTS:
-
The DDR program
works with individual elementary, middle/junior high, and high schools with
individual drug education programs as requested by the schools through the State
Department of Education.

DDR personnel
provide logistical support for numerous community based substance abuse
organizations' programs.
-
DDR personnel
developed a High School Drug Awareness Program (HIDAP) to be provided to Alabama
high school students. HIDAP personnel train recruiters to conduct this
drug education class.
